Nickerson conducted a comprehensive review of the future uses for the brand to ensure longevity
A longtime Nickerson client-partner, non-profit Housing Families came under new leadership in recent years, and entered a period of accelerated growth during the pandemic as they successfully provided support to communities, families, and individuals in need. Now offering new services, and serving additional communities, Housing Families felt it was time to formalize the organization’s brand, mission, and goals for the coming decade.
In collaboration with Housing Families, our team executed an integrated branding, marketing, and communications strategy. Nickerson’s full team was involved in the process from the outset to ensure Housing Families’ goals were met, and establish cohesion across all materials created. Through our team’s collaboration, all marketing and communications efforts executed on behalf of Housing Families contain a consistent message, branding, and imagery.

Brand & Website
Our team reviewed Housing Families’ current branding, marketing, and communications efforts, from internal team communications to website and fundraising brochures. We also conducted a comprehensive review of the future uses for the brand to ensure longevity. Our team identified and developed multiple themes, logos, and images that aligned with Housing Families’ goals, reviewing and refining each option with the Housing Families team until a clear brand look and feel was established. Once the branding was finalized, we developed guides for usage that would assist Housing Families with brand usage across digital, print, and other marketing materials.
Messaging
Working closely with Housing Families’ board and senior leadership, our communications and strategic messaging teams set out to ensure that the new mission and vision developed aligned with their expanded goals. Establishing all communications from corporate messaging to search engine optimization of website copy, our efforts and storytelling drove the repositioning of the organization across all mediums.
Appeals Package
Beyond developing the branding and messaging for Housing Families, our team was tasked with the creation of collateral for a number of Housing Families’ marketing efforts. As a non-profit organization, the holiday giving season is of upmost importance, and our team worked with Housing Families to design and develop their holiday appeal.
Holiday Drive
With each holiday marketing piece created, our team excitedly incorporated the new theme, imagery, and messaging, maintaining the brand essence while bringing fun to each design piece. Festive images accompanied the holiday message, allowing Housing Families to tell a cohesive story, maintain the whimsy of the holidays, and request support during their busiest time of year.
Health & Homes For All 5K
Started in 2020, the Health & Homes For All 5K is an annual race held by Housing Families, executed virtually in 2020 and as an in-person/virtual hybrid for the first time in 2021. We supported Housing Families’ through the creation of all 5K marketing materials, including t-shirts, signage, and the 5K web page. Given the timing of the brand’s launch, this was the first time many of Housing Families’ supporters had seen the new branding!
